ELIZABETH BUSH
ANENOME
Carpenteria
californica ‘Elizabeth’
A fine clonal selection of a seldom-seen
species native to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California. Bush
anemones are small evergreen shrubs related to mock oranges and hydrangeas
that grow to about 5’ tall and wide. The abundant late spring/early summer
terminal blooms are white with yellow centers, and give the appearance of
anemone flowers. To be sure, this plant is probably best relegated to the
west coast states, but may be worth a try in drier, milder parts of the
East.
